Senior / Principal Hydrologist

WHY?

This is an opportunity like no other. We are seeking a Senior/Principal Hydrologist to join our high-functioning and growing team.   

We already have enough technical firepower to rival any top flight plc Consulting team anywhere in the Country (probably the world), so there is plenty of scope for personal development and diversification of skills. Core business will include the application of a broad suite of technical hydrology and hydrogeological disciplines; however, our underlying focus is all about making an impact on some of the biggest challenges of our time.

Requirements:

  • Car and Valid UK Driver’s license.
  • BSc and/or MSc and in a relevant discipline (e.g. Hydrology or Engineering) or equivalent experience in practice.
  • 5+ years industry experience of geoenvironmental/geotechnical/hydrology projects.

 

WHERE?

This is not a conventional business, and it follows that this is not a conventional job opportunity. There will be no neat little box for you to sit in (either physically or metaphorically). This role will be home/remote working in the UK with significant components of fieldwork. Ideal geographies would be South-East/ Thames Valley. We are willing to consider applications from further afield so don't let your geography limit your horizons.

 

WHAT?

Experience in the following areas…

  • Manage project teams and provide support to junior members of the team
  • Provide technical leadership and specialist hydrology/modelling advice and high-quality reports for a number of projects and sectors including Land and Property Development, Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities.,
  • Oversee quality control/assurance of hydrological and/or hydraulic modelling studies
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Take responsibility for workload supervision, resource planning and financial management of projects
  • Preparation of or input into Flood Risk Assessment reports and Drainage Strategies
  • Applied experience of 1D/2D hydraulic modelling of surface water drainage and watercourses, preferably with experience using TUFLOW, ESTRY, and Flood Modeller
  • Applied experience of hydrological assessment using FEH, ReFH2, and WINFAP
  • Chartered status with ICE or CIWEM, or progressing towards chartership 
  • Participate in the preparation/presentation of proposals/bids as required including estimating timescales and costs for proposed works.
  • Cultivate new clients and develop services with existing clients, in particular services relating to their own areas of technical expertise.
