Junior Geo-Environmental Consultant

WHY?

This is an entry level opportunity like no other. We are seeking a Junior Geo-Environmental Consultant/Engineer to join our high-functioning and growing team.  We already have enough technical fire power to rival any top flight plc Consulting team anywhere in the country (probably the world), so there is plenty of scope for you to learn, apply and diversify your skills.  Core business will include the application of a broad suite of technical earth-science disciplines (contaminated land, remediation, geotechnics, hydrology, hydrogeology etc) for clients throughout the UK. However, our underlying focus is all about making an impact on some of the biggest challenges of our time.

WHO?

We are fully committed to gender equality and flexible working and will consider requests for full or part-time working patterns with home-based working to suit. A life-work balance (deliberately with ‘life’ first) is essential for a sustainable future. For this reason, we are seeking a resourceful and self-motivated individual to work collaboratively as part of our team. Some experience in the Geo-Env space would be of benefit but equally, attitude will get you a long way here.

Requirements:

  • Car and Valid UK Driver’s license
  • Minimum undergraduate degree and/or experience in the Geo-Env space
  • Prior experience in the sector is ideal, but we will also consider graduate applicants if the candidate is right for us

WHERE?

This is not a conventional business, and it follows that this is not a conventional job opportunity. There will be no neat little box for you to sit in (either physically or metaphorically). This role will be home/remote working in the UK with significant components of fieldwork. Ideal geographies would be South-East/ Thames Valley. We are willing to consider applications from further afield so don't let your geography limit your horizons.

WHAT?

Experience in some of the following areas is desirable:

  • Undertaking site investigation/ fieldwork, including soil logging, soil and groundwater sampling, managing drilling rigs etc
  • Land quality assessment, preliminary risk assessments, GQRA, validation and verification of remediation projects
  • Geology & Geotechnics
  • Flood risk assessment and drainage strategies
  • Hydrogeology
  • Drafting Environmental Statement Chapters
  • Data management, including Holebase SI, GIS, CAD etc.
  • Not to worry if you don't have an in-depth working knowledge of all of these disciplines (few if any do).  Your role will almost certainly provide you with ample opportunities to learn about these….and a whole lot more.
